Panzhihua City has rich mineral resources, and 76 minerals have been discovered. With 7.18 billion tons of proven iron ore (mainly V-bearing titaniferous magnetite), it is one of China's four major iron mines. Its reserves of titanium, vanadium and graphite rank first in the world, third in the world and third in the country, respectively. It is an important new industrial city in western China. Panzhihua is rich in water energy resources. With an annual runoff of 110.2 billion cubic meters, a development capacity of 7 million kilowatts, and an existing installed capacity of 5.66 million kilowatts, it is a national key hydropower base. Panzhihua enjoys unique climate resources. It has a south subtropical dry hot valley climate featuring abundant light and heat, warm winter and cool summer, and distinct dry and wet seasons. It has sunshine duration of about 2700 hours and a frost-free period of over 300 days a year, and annual average temperature of 20.3 °C. With blooming flowers and fresh vegetables and fruits all the year round, it is a national demonstration zone for modern agriculture, national forest city, national garden city and a city listed among the first group of national pilot cities for integration of health & wellness and medical industry.
